Consciousness is sticky and can be interrogated with pharmacologic agents. This painting is a representation of that concept. The stickiness property of consciousness and concept of inertia apply to many aspects of medicine. I am still inspired by the work of Dr. Max Kelz, Dr. Andrew Mckinstry-Wu and Dr. Alex Proekt--my former physician research colleagues/collaborators at the University of Pennsylvania. Anesthesia is safer and more rich because of their contributions to the specialty that I love.
